7 Healthy Evening Snack Ideas to Curb Your Cravings

It’s early in the year, and many of us are still trying to make healthier decisions. (It’s practically the universal New Year’s resolution.) But it’ll never be realistic to banish sweets and snacks from your life—and what kind of life would that be, anyway?

Luckily, there are delicious and tasty snack options to satisfy cravings in a healthier way. You just have to swap in some creative low-calorie and low-fat snack options that give you the same tastes and textures. Err on the healthy side with quick and easy evening snacks since your body won’t be burning through much energy while you’re sleeping.

Healthy Evening Snack Alternatives

If you’re craving… Why not try…
Gummy candy Pieces of dried fruit. Just be sure to get dried fruit that isn’t loaded with sugar. There are so many delicious options—strawberries, bananas, pineapple, apples—and the satisfyingly chewy consistency is similar to the gummy candy you love.
Potato chips Roasted pumpkin or squash seeds with a little bit of olive oil, sea salt, fresh ground pepper, garlic powder and whatever else you’ve got hanging around in the spice cabinet. Season to suit your own tastebuds.
French fries Roasted baby carrots tossed with olive oil, salt and pepper until crispy. Nope, they won’t taste exactly like fries, but they’re delicious in their own right. Then dip in a bit of ketchup.
Popsicles Frozen grapes or banana slices. They’re pleasingly sweet, and the consistency really mimics the popsicle.
Peanut butter chocolate chip ice cream Plain Greek yogurt mixed with dried peanut butter (it’s powdered PB without the oil, so it’s lighter on the calories). Sprinkle in dark chocolate chips.
Buttered popcorn Air-popped popcorn. Coat it with a little spray olive oil and a dusting of salt and garlic powder (or whatever seasonings you like best).
Pizza Sweet grape tomatoes dipped in whipped goat cheese. You get the delicious tomato/cheese combo you’re hankering for. To bring out even more intense flavor, slow-roast the tomatoes first.
